Class Homework Letter

Hi All,

Please share with your child that the class earned their second letter in the word "homework"

In case you don't know what that means....I told the class a couple weeks ago that each day they all turn in all their homework in the morning without me asking I will give them a letter in the word homework. Once they spell out the word "homework" they will get a movie and popcorn on a Friday.

They will be excited because it has taken them almost 3 weeks to get the second letter!

Happy weekend!

Walk for Cans and Endangered Animal Reports

Hi All,

Your children ran/walked their laps today for walk for cans. Please have them collect their donations and bring them back to our classroom by November 12th.

Also, endangered animal reports and projects are due on WEDNESDAY. There has been some confusion about being Thursday...that is not the case. The due date has always been Wednesday, October 28th. Please know that for reports and projects if they are not turned in on time, points are taken off.

If reports and projects are currently finished, you may send in tomorrow if you would like.

Blessings,
Christina

3rd Grade Unit Test

Dear 3rd grade parents,

This weekend I graded your child's unit 1 reading test. There was very little effort put forth in the last part in writing the paragraphs. To correct this, we talked about paragraphs this afternoon and about the mistakes they made. I then wrote a paragraph for them about the worst day ever (they had to copy it) and then underneath that, they had 15 minutes to write a new paragraph about the best day ever. I took this paragraph and their effort in our class discussion and gave them extra points on the test with this.  This is stapled to the unit test that I am sending home in their homework folder tonight so you can see it.

Please note, that this is the only time that I will do this with them (adding extra points) on the test.

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Blessings,
Christina

A note in regards to our class behavior and effort

Dear Parents,

I have appreciated your support and help so far this year. This email is reaching out to you to ask for more support from you in regards to our class.  The class has worked very hard so far this year and I am proud of them for their efforts and accomplishments. However, it seems as a group we are slipping in our pride and effort in our classwork.

Would you please partner with me and reiterate with your child what I have shared with them in class a bunch these past two weeks.

1) It is not a race you don't have to be the first one done.

2) SLOW down and read all the directions many silly mistakes are being made from not reading and following directions.

3) I know they are smart but I want to see them be brilliant and work harder than ever.

4) The importance of doing your best and how doing your best now will help you in the future.

5) Listening during instruction time (this is the big one that has hit everyone hard the last couple days).

I love teaching your children and we are learning great things, however, I want to see and help them be motivated and excited about learning. They need to put in some more effort and be more attentive in class.  I never expect them to be perfect, but I do expect them to at least try and give their best effort.

The language homework from last night will not be put into the grade book. Those couple students that did well on the homework will receive some extra credit. I will work with them in class tomorrow to redo those pages (or have a worksheet similar with areas missed as a whole).

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Blessings and Thank you for your support with this,

Christina

Math Assigments

Hi All,

I just wanted to clarify that students should be showing their work on their math papers. Problems need to be written out (vertically) and solved. Please partner with me and make sure that your child is writing out the problems and showing their work. It helps me see their mistakes as well.

Thanks,
Christina

Newsletter

Hi All,

Attached is the newsletter for next week. It is in word and pdf.  :)

I am very proud of the class for how well they lead chapel yesterday! They did outstanding!! Please be here Sunday morning by 8:50 so I can make sure all get into their proper attire. If your child is a trick or treater in the skit, please just have them wear that outfit to church. I will be in the back of the church with the Bible costumes. :)

Also, please note that for 3rd grade next week is a unit test for reading and language. There will not be vocab or spelling worksheet for the week. There are still spelling words. 4th grade has their unit test next week and the same will apply.

Have a great weekend and see you Sunday for our Partner's in Worship! :)

Blessings,
Christina

Music Lessons and An Important Reminder About Our Chapel

Hi All,

First off, many of your children have expressed an interest to Mr. Nieto about taking music lessons from him outside of school. I believe he offers piano, guitar, drum, and voice lessons. If this is something you would like to check into please email Mr. Nieto with your interest and questions.
His email is Omarreal107@gmail.com

Secondly, our class is leading chapel next week. Please make sure that all students are on time on Wednesday. Chapel starts at 8:45 and there are children that have to put costumes on. You all are welcome to attend chapel and watch your children lead the school in worship.

Finally, I want to go through our entire skit on Tuesday with everyone in costume. Please send your child's costume to school (those that need to bring from home). I will send home those costumes again on Tuesday and you may have your child just wear their costume to school. Please make sure to bring their uniforms because they will change after chapel.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Christina
